Penny Grant, M.D., retired pediatrician enjoys the antics of
her two Pugs, 17 ½ year old Oscar and 5 year old Mitch. |
|
|
Oscar’s philosophy is “age is just a number” and he
attributes his longevity to genetics, a healthy puppyhood,
his Mom’s expertise in nonverbal communication, and weekly
acupuncture. |
|
Mitch’s motto is “my brother’s keeper while being a bit
mischievous.” Oscar arrived at age 7 years after his
original family’s child developed severe allergies. |
|
Mitch is a pandemic rescue at age 3 years from
1 Love 4 Animals in Pennsylvania. |
|
The organization continues the work begun in 1997 by Bill
Smith, the founder of Main Line Animal Rescue. |
|
He ran that organization for over 20 years and with a group
of
like-minded individuals founded 1 Love 4 Animals. |

|
His dedication to his animals is absolute- answering emails,
fielding questions, and facilitating the entire process. |
|
He is an advocate for animals in other ways aside from
rescues
and adoptions. |
|
When striking actors took to the picket line in NYC, 1 Love
4 Animals partnered with Broadway Barks and Broadway Cares
and created a fund to feed the pets of struggling actors.
|
|
1 Love 4 Animals also has an in-house food storage and
distribution center providing free dog and cat food to the
pets of underserved communities and individuals facing
financial hardship. |
|
Oscar and Mitch are Penny’s third and fourth pugs. In their
“words”: adopt, don’t shop and please support your favorite
animal rescue organization. |
