On the outskirts of Lima, in a neighborhood of very low resources, there is a school that the whims of fate decided should exist: the Pachacútec Cooking School. This documentary tells the story of three young graduates from the school, who are now succeeding around the world. All of them saw gastronomy as an opportunity to get ahead.

Three couples participate in a very particular therapy session. A psychologist proposes a group session in which they will analyze each other without their presence. She left them envelopes with instructions on what they had to address. Everyone is encouraged to give their opinions, discuss, and show themselves as they are. They are prosecutors and attorneys. They all interrogate, confess, emotionally bare themselves, regret what they say, and play at provocation.

Mary travels from Honduras in search of her son, a migrant kidnapped in Mexico. During her journey, she joins other mothers searching for their children and understands the magnitude of the disappearance crisis. Francisco, a leader of the Pesh ethnic group, confronts the destruction of the jungle, the emigration of his children, and the disappearance of his language.


 

"Toshkua," which means "to disappear" in the Pesh language of Honduras, tells the story of those who fight against disappearance from Central America to the United States.

The Festival is an initiative of the Division of Interdisciplinary Studies at the Center for Worker Education of the City College of New York (CUNY), with the generous support of CCNY President Vincent Boudreau and VP Dee Dee Mozeleski, CUNY-CCNY Quest, A Lifelong Learning Community, the CCNY Division of Humanities and the Arts, the CCNY Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership, and the collaboration of prestigious institutions such as the Cervantes Institute, the National Museum of the American Indian, the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at NYU, La Nacional Spanish Benevolent Society, Manhattan Neighborhood Network and the Argentine Consulate in New York.
