FRIENDS OF INNER-CITY SCHOLARSHIP FUND HOST
47TH ANNUAL GALA
Hundreds of guests including His Eminence,
Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, will
gather to support Inner-City Scholarship Fund, the city’s
leading non-profit organization dedicated to providing
tuition assistance to low-income students attending Catholic
schools in the Archdiocese of New York, at its 47th Annual
FRIENDS Gala on Tuesday, April 30th from 6:30 PM–
10:00 PM at Cipriani 42nd Street, 110
East 42nd Street (between Lexington and Park
Avenues), Manhattan.
This year’s emcee for the FRIENDS
Gala is Martha MacCallum, news host for Fox News. This
year’s Gala Co-Chairs are Donna D'Urso, Lisa D'Urso, Mark
D'Urso and Marion Macaro.
Ruth Woolard, one of Inner-City’s dedicated
donors, will be presented with the inaugural Founders Award
for Lifetime Service at the event. Under Ruth’s leadership,
Inner-City has hosted the FRIENDS Gala with hundreds of
guests featuring student speakers and performances at some
of New York’s premier venues. Ruth has attended all 46
previous FRIENDS Galas. Ruth’s husband, Paul P. Woolard, was
one of the eight founding members of the first executive
council for Inner-City in 1971. Paul served as an active
member of the council for years, and later as a trustee
until his death in 2013.
This event will feature remarks by Cardinal Dolan and Gianna
Raldiris, a senior at Preston High School in the Bronx, as
well as a performance by the talented students from All
Hallows High School in the Bronx, Cardinal Spellman High
School in the Bronx, Notre Dame School in Manhattan, and St.
Raymond Elementary School in the Bronx.
Proceeds from the event will benefit
Inner-City Scholarship Fund, which provides
tuition assistance to over 8,500 students (91% minority and
42% non-Catholic). An astonishing 99% percent of seniors
attending inner-city Catholic high schools graduate, and 98%
are accepted to colleges and universities across the nation.
