LIFE celebrated 20
extraordinary years on December 7, 2013,
with a spectacular Rio-style celebration
at The Mar-a-Lago Club, Palm Beach,
which was transformed into a tropical
Brazilian paradise. Lois
Pope and Patrick M. Park served as
chairs of this truly amazing evening. The
20th Annual "Lady in Red" Gala, "A Night
in Rio" honored LIFE’s history of
helping those in need and for being the
champion for those who cannot speak but
who enrich our lives and everyday make
us a little more... human.
Always the
much-anticipated start of the Palm Beach
social season, the gala featured
America’s favorite funny-man and
legendary Tonight
Show host
Jay Leno. Leno
kept the crowd laughing with his
stand-up routine before emceeing the
live auction.
Naomi Judd, country music
star, songwriter and activist was also
in attendance and received the LIFE
Humane Legacy Award recognizing her for
her tireless dedication to helping the
infirmed and society's most vulnerable.
As guests entered the
sensational ballroom, Brazilian dancers
in authentic Carnival attire greeted
them. The evening also featured the
renowned Palm Beach Symphony, Broadway
hits sung by the talented 60 member Nova
Choir and dancing to the music
of the Sultans of Swing.

Proceeds from the
evening’s Gala benefited LIFE’s
partnership with American Humane Association
(AHA) which includes a program to
protect the voiceless and the vulnerable
in our society - children and abused
animals. Programs that will be served
are in Palm Beach County including a
large Pet Mobile for adoption purposes
and rescue service during times of
emergency.
