An
expert from
Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa will discuss the latest treatments for
melanoma at the Palm Beach Melanoma Symposium.
Dr. Vernon Sondak, the chair of the Department of
Cutaneous Oncology at Moffitt, will speak to and take
questions from an audience of about 100 on Friday, Nov.
6 at Café
L’ Europe, 331 South County Road in Palm Beach. The
luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $100 per
person and proceeds will benefit Moffitt’s Cutaneous
Program.
Sondak received his medical degree from the
Boston
University and completed his residency
and fellowship at the UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles. His research interests include
surgery
and immunotherapy of melanoma and biomarkers of melanoma
metastasis. His clinical interests are melanoma, soft
tissue sarcoma, retroperitoneal sarcomas, desmoid
tumors, dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, and merkel cell
carcinoma.
Joining Sondak will
be Dr. Abraham Schwarzberg of the
Richard David Kann Melanoma Foundation in
West Palm Beach. Schwarzberg will
give a testimony on his treatment at Moffitt. The chair
of the Melanoma Symposium is Lisa Blum of West Palm Beach.
