Are you aware that . . . . . . . .
Children under the age
of five
-
are at the highest
risk for accidents, illness and invasive disease
-
experience the most
hospitalizations as well as emergency room,
out-patient and doctor office visits
-
are the least
prepared and most vulnerable to the pain, stress
and unpredictability of medical events
-
are defenseless to
the harmful effects of these early experiences
that can last a lifetime
Significant research
efforts have improved the outcome for premature
infants in the NICU and countless studies have been
undertaken that address the needs of 6 to 18 years
olds. However, children birth to five, the highest
consumers of pediatric health care, have been
largely forgotten! This first-ever conference
will begin to change that reality.
1st International
Conference
www.pediatricpsychologicaltrauma.org
We are bringing together
leading experts in the medical community to
1) define the
developmental significance of early medical trauma
2) identify the impact
of health care experiences on young children and
3) explore options for innovative research and
developmentally grounded intervention and prevention
strategies.
