for a cause. A
special performance by "Curb Your Enthusiasm" star Susie
Essman begins at 8
PM. Money raised with help the charity award scholarships
to physically
handicapped college students.
Andrew Fox and the ChairScholars Foundation are proud to
have helped send
461 students to school and hope that you will be able to
attend this
worthwhile and fun event. Tickets are still available for
purchase to the
general public at www.chairscholars.org <http://www.chairscholars.org/>
.
If you are interested in covering this as a feature story,
we will be happy
to put you in touch with Quemeul Arroyo and Andrew Fox at
your convenience.
If you can attend the benefit, we can introduce you to them
at Hudson
Terrace. Please call or email Sydney Masters at (212)
580-0835 or

Here are the details:
Quemeul Arroyo, Andrew Fox (the NY Chapter President of
ChairScholars
Foundation (www.chairscholars.org) will be a part of
ChairScholars upcoming
comedy benefit on October 13. The charity helps put
handicapped young
people through school, and Quemeul is the current recipient,
and a wonderful
example, of how the foundation helps this doubly
discriminated against
population!
Quemeul Arroyo is a 20 year old who was severely handicapped
in a biking
accident in 2007. He is now wheelchair bound but thanks to
the ChairScholars
Foundation, and a chance meeting with NY Chapter President
Andrew Fox,
Arroyo is now a full time NYU student with a bright future.
After Arroyo met Fox, the CEO of Track Entertainment, at the
hospital he was
encouraged to apply for the ChairScholars Foundation N.Y.
scholarship. He
won, and is now a full time NYU sophomore, studying Urban
Planning, and
living at the dorm that once housed the Palladium.
Fox became involved in this cause in particular, as he
believes that higher
education is the most vital link to economic stability and
self-sufficiency
for the severely physically disabled. An astonishing 3 out
of every 4
children with a physical disability canıt go to college or
vocational school
due to the financial burden of their disability.
I'd love to put you in touch with Arroyo and Fox, set up a
meeting or get
you further information on the charity and the upcoming 4th
Annual Comedy
Night on October 13 at Hudson Terrace. Of course, we would
love for you to
attend or send someone to cover.
Here are some facts:
*4 out of every 5 working-age Americans with a
disability are
unemployed.
*28% of working-age Americans with a disability live
below poverty
level, compared to 9% of their non-disabled peers.
*On average, the household income of working-age
Americans with a
disability is 53% lower than that of their non-disabled
peers.
All tickets for the benefit event in New York City on
October 13 include the
cocktail reception and show. Names of those attending will
be on a
reservation list and held at the door. To purchase tickets,
supporters may
go to
www.chairscholars.org .
