Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday Shopping
Celebration
The Gardens Mall
August 13-15, 2010
Parents can look forward to back-to-school
shopping this year, thanks to the Florida Legislature
passing the
Back-to-School Sales Tax
Holiday.
Florida now has a
three-day, sales-tax holiday from August 13 through 15, on
school supplies, books, clothing, and footwear.
The Gardens Mall will be celebrating the
tax-free weekend by hosting two runway fashion shows on
Saturday, August 14 in the Grand Court, featuring graduates
from the popular summer program, Fashion Camp at The
Gardens. Beat the heat, catch up on the latest trends, and
shop your favorite brands at affordable prices during the
three-day tax holiday. Check out the new styles at an array
of youth-oriented retailers located at The Gardens Mall:
Abercrombie & Fitch,
Aeropostale,
American Eagle Outfitters, Express, Gap, Lucky Brand Jeans,
Lacoste, Justice, True Religion Brand Jeans, and Ralph
Lauren, just to name a few. Retail giants, Sears, Nordstrom,
Bloomingdale’s, and Macy’s are sure to have the hottest
fashions, along with value-packed prices on clothes,
accessories, and shoes.

“This
tax break
will enable Florida families to buy school supplies and
clothing for the school year without the additional cost
burden of state and local taxes,” said Sally West, director
of government affairs for the Florida Retail Federation.
“The tax holiday will also provide a much needed boost to
Florida’s economy.”
When it
comes to clothes, each item must be $50 or less to avoid
paying sales tax. The list includes pants, skirts, shirts,
shoes, socks, jackets, jeans, uniforms, belts, and even
backpacks. The school supply list includes just about
everything you need to succeed in the classroom. The catch
is, to be tax free, each item must be under $10.
