|
NEW YORK, NY -
If the shoe doesn't fit,
donate it! The New York Liberty and Bottomless Closet NYC
will host a unique women's 9+ size Shoe Drive on Sunday,
June 27 at Madison Square Garden prior to the team's game
versus Eastern Conference rival, the Connecticut Sun at 4:00
p.m.
Bottomless Closet NYC, a local
non-profit organization, works tirelessly to provide
disadvantaged New York City women with business attire, and
larger sizes of footwear are always in demand. Fans will be
able to donate shoes in the collection bins located in the
mall area as they enter The Garden before and during the
game. All work-appropriate shoes are welcome, however sizes
9 and higher fill a special need for the organization.
" Our
organization focuses on women helping women," said
Bottomless Closet Executive Director Kendall Farrell. "We
truly appreciate the Liberty's involvement with our
organization, and especially in such an amazing way!"
" The
Liberty are extremely proud to assist Bottomless Closet NYC
in achieving its mission to better prepare the women of New
York City for the workforce this summer," said team
president and general manager Carol Blazejowski.
Fans
will also be encouraged to visit the Bottomless Closet NYC
table located outside of Gate 65 on the 6th floor concourse
to learn more about the organization, as well as enter to
win limited edition Liberty autographed merchandise.
Proceeds from tickets priced at $15 purchased via
http://tinyurl.com/bottomlesscloset
with the code BCLOSET, will be donated
to Bottomless Closet NYC.
The
mission of Bottomless Closet is to help disadvantaged New
York City women become self-sufficient through a
comprehensive program that begins with business attire and
interview preparation and continues with professional
development, financial management and personal enrichment.
Using the model of women helping women and their network of
dedicated volunteers, Bottomless Closet enhances their
