Happy neophytes and savvy returning guests
at Copland House's stunning, sold-out annual
culinary and musical galas revisit the place
where these eagerly-anticipated fetes
began. This year's event,
Revue de Cuisine, takes place in the
exquisitely re-designed Daniel, one of the
jewels of the restaurant world, on Sunday
evening,
October 17th at 5PM.
Complementing a 4-course gastronomic
symphony especially composed for this
occasion by legendary chef Daniel Boulud is
composer Bohuslav Martinu's fanciful ballet
suite, La Revue de Cuisine, which
pulls the apron back on a boiling romance
between an amorous pot and its lid, with a
saucy mélange à trois on the side
(dish cloth, broom, and twirling stick).
Delectably narrated by Jamie Bernstein and
impeccably served by the
internationally-acclaimed Music from Copland
House ensemble, the instrumental menu also
includes musical appetizers and desserts by
Leonard Bernstein, Derek Bermel, Grant
Beglarian, and others. These memorable
annual galas benefit Copland House, the
unique creative center based at Aaron
Copland's restored, longtime home in
northern Westchester County.
Hailed by
Westchester
magazine as
"unforgettable, heavenly, heady, and
divine," Copland House's previous
chef-composer collaborations featured Eric
Ripert and Ned Rorem, William Bolcom, and
others at Le Bernardin; Lidia Bastianich and
Aaron Jay Kernis at Del Posto; Daniel Boulud
and Richard Danielpour at Daniel; and Fabio
Trabbochi and John Musto, Derek Bermel and
others at The Four Seasons. As Food and
Wine raved, "the music was lively ...
the food triumphed. A hush fell as we ate."
Copland House, a National Historic Landmark,
is the only composer's home in the U.S.
devoted to nurturing and renewing America's
rich musical heritage through a broad range
of musical, educational, public,
informational, and electronic-media
activities that take place across the
nation. In an innovative public-private
partnership with the Westchester County
government, Copland House recently expanded
to a vast, second location on the majestic,
130-acre Merestead estate in Mount Kisco,
NY.
Daniel is located at 60 East 65th Street in
Manhattan. The gala will include a
wide-ranging silent auction, souvenir
program journal. Gala Chair is O. Anthony
Maddalena, and Gala Underwriters are Carol
and Robert Morris and Teri and James
Babcock. Tickets start at $500 ($375
tax-deductible), and sponsorships begin at
