YoungArts, the core program
of the National Foundation for Advancement
in the Arts, will engage two world-renowned
artists to serve as Master Teachers for
In the Studio, in New York City as part
of the Aon-sponsored Legacy Master Class
Series.
Thirty seven talented young
artists, designated by YoungArts as the top
talent of the 2010 finalist group for their
impressive performances at YoungArts Week in
Miami this past January, will travel to New
York City in April for a week-long all
expenses paid artistic residency which
includes workshops, tours of the city and
master classes with celebrated artists
including singer/songwriter/actress Melissa
Manchester and the multifaceted
director/producer/writer and arts
administrator, Gregory Mosher.
Melissa Manchester
is a Grammy award-winning artist who has
graced the stages as a headlining performer
at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall
and Radio City Music Hall.
She recently received the Governor?s Award
from the National Academy of
Recording Arts and Sciences for her
contributions to music and the recording
arts. She will be teaching a master class
for the YoungArts Voice students at the
Baryshnikov Arts Center on Wednesday,
April 21 from 1:30-3:00 p.m.
Gregory Mosher
currently serves as
Director of
the Columbia
University Arts
Initiative. He is a Tony
Award-winning director and
producer of nearly two hundred stage
productions that have run at prestigious
theaters ranging from the
Lincoln Center and Goodman
Theatres, on and off-Broadway,
at the Royal
National Theatre, and in the West
End. He is also a film and
television director, producer, and writer.
He will be teaching a master class for the
YoungArts Theater students at the
Baryshnikov Arts Center on
Wednesday, April 21 from
10am-12 p.m.
Participating in a master
class with these celebrated artists is a
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the
YoungArts students, and the experience is a
large part of what makes YoungArts such a

The Aon Legacy Master Class
Series will continue throughout the year as
the YoungArts cycle continues, with master
teachers leading classes for YoungArts
finalists in Washington D.C. for National
Recognition Week, where 20 YoungArts
finalists are named Presidential Scholars in
the Arts. Master teachers for these programs
are to be announced. ?This is the kind of
