The 12th Annual Staten Ireland Irish Fair
will be held on Saturday June 12th and
Sunday June 13th 2010 at 777 Seaview Ave and
Fr. Capodanno Blvd, South Beach Staten
Island.
Our festival is always a big hit with the
Irish of New York with at least 5,000 people
passing through the gates every year.
Admission is $10 at the gate or $8 advance
purchase. Children under 12 are admitted
free when accompanied by an adult. The
entertainment line up is very impressive
this year with Derek Warfield and the Young
Wolfetones coming all the way from Ireland,
while from the Ottawa Valley in Ontario
Canada we have "Searson". Kiara from Haiwaii
will be performing during the opening
sashing ceremony. We also have local band
"The Moonshiners", and from the Jersey shore
we have "The Snakes". Brooklyn boys the
"Canny Brothers Band" will also be
entertaining the crowds. Paddy Noonan will
be there again this year, and Fiona Molloy
will be acting as the Fair Hostess.
Festivities begin Saturday at Noon with
opening ceremonies being kicked off by the
Staten Island Pipes and Drums, one of three
Pipe Bands participating this year. The fair
runs from 12 Noon to 8pm on Saturday, and
continues again with Mass at 11am on Sunday.
Gates will open at 10:30am on Sunday to
accommodate those wishing to attend Mass.
Our festival is a family centered event so
there will also be a "Land of the
Leprechauns" kids area where a $10 ticket
entitles the kids to ride all the rides as
many times as they want from 1pm and 5pm.
There will be over 40 Irish vendors
attending to provide a huge array of Irish
food and Imports. The event is sponsored by
the St Columcille Irish Cultrual Center and
is the main fundraiser for their Irish
American efforts in the NY area.
