The World Water Organization is
pleased to present an evening of beautiful music by
seven world-renown artists to help us bring
life-giving water to the millions of Haitian people
so dramatically affected by the recent devastating
earthquake.
Here are the highlights of some of our performers
for the evening.
Hai-Kyung Suh transfixes audiences with her
passionate musicality and dramatic expressiveness.
Having resoundingly made the difficult transition
from prodigy to self-confident Old Master (New York
Concert Review), Ms Suh endures as one of the most
sublime interpreters of 19th century virtuoso piano
repertoire and the classic works of Bach, Mozart,
Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Liszt, Schumann, Brahms
and Rachmaninoff.
Chin Kim - Acclaimed for his deep musicality and
virtuosity, Chin is one of the most versatile, and
sought-after of violinists today, has been
performing extensively around the world as guest
artist with orchestras as those of Philadelphia, St.
Louis, Montréal, and Atlanta with conductors like
Leonard Slatkin, John Nelson, Myung Whun Chung, and
Sixten Ehrling. As recitalist, Kim appeared in major
halls of New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago,
Montréal, Toronto, Brussels, and Seoul.
Joung Hoon Song - At the age of 10, Joung began his
violin studies in South Korea. After winning the
Seoul Philharmonic Concerto Soloist Competition, at
age 15, he made his debut with the orchestra which
was televised nationwide. Since then, Song has
performed extensively around the world His numerous
appearances as orchestra soloist include the
Budapest Radio Symphony, Seoul Philharmonic and the
Korean Symphony Orchestra. Joung Hoon Song’s
performance venues include Weill Recital Hall,
Carnegie Hall, and Paul Hall and Alice Tully Hall at
Lincoln Center. Song has been featured on CBS
radio’s Classical Music.
Daniel Ihn-Kyu Lee made his Carnegie Hall debut with
Eve Queler and the Opera Orchestra of New York's
production of La Gioconda. Among his operatic roles,
he has sung Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte, the title
role in Gianni Schicchi, Figaro in Le nozze di
Figaro and Peter in Hansel and Gretel. Lee has
received numerous awards, including recognition from
the Caruso International Competition and the Puccini
Foundation International Voice Competition. He was a
Metropolitan Opera National Council Audition Eastern
Regional finalist. Lee received a full scholarship
to The Juilliard School.
Damien Sneed is a sought after pianist, organist,
vocal coach, conductor, composer, arranger, lecturer
and producer he is a native of Augusta, Georgia and
graduate of John S. Davidson Fine Arts School.
Damien has studied at some of the finest
conservatories and universities including Howard
University, the Peabody Conservatory of Johns
Hopkins University, New York University and the
Manhattan School of Music. Damien Sneed’s
professional affiliations include the City
University of New York (CUNY), The Juilliard School,
the Martina Arroyo Foundation, Jazz at Lincoln
Center, New York University’s Clive Davis Department
for Recorded Music.
Dusica Bijelic is a lyric soprano currently singing
leading roles in Europe including La Contessa di
Folleville in Il Viaggio A Reims in the Teatro Real
in Madrid in April 2010, la Clorinda in La
Cenerentola and Adelina in Adelina in Wildbad,
Germany as part of the Rossini Festival in July
2010. Ms. Bijelic has studied with Raul Gimenez’s in
Barcelona Concertante Academy (2009), was awarded
full scholarship at the Opera Studio of Santa
Cecilia in Rome under the direction of Renata Scotto
(2008), and attended the Daniel Ferro Vocal Program
in Greve Tuscany with full scholarship (2007-2009).
She has given concerts and recitals in Hiroshima,
Japan; Budapest and Miskolc, Hungary; Ljubljana,
Slovenia; Vienna and Deutschlandsberg, Austria; Rome
and Tuscany, Italy; Barcelona, Spain; and throughout
Serbia. Ms. Bijelic sang in the Bel Canto festival
in Rome in 2008. She made her performance debut at
the National Theater of Belgrade in the Marriage of
Figaro singing Susanna in 2005.
Ok-Ja Lim earned widespread critical acclaim for her
many fine performances with opera companies across
the United States and in Europe. She is mostly noted
for her portrayal of Cio-Cio San, appearing in the
role with the Arizona Opera in Tucson and Phoenix
for her second season, with Nevada Opera Theatre in
Las Vegas, Sarasota opera in Sarasota, FL, -
