PALM BEACH – December 1,
2010 – Mr. and Mrs.
Donald J. Trump will
serve as chairmen for
the 53rd
Annual Palm Beach
American Cancer Society
Gala, to be held on
Friday, February 4, 2011
at the Mar-A-Lago Club.
Mark Cook, president of
the American Cancer
Society’s Island of Palm
Beach Unit Board of
Trustees, made the
announcement on
Wednesday morning at
their Fall board meeting
which was held at Café
Boulud.
It was also announced
that Patrick Park
will be honored at this
year’s gala as the
recipient of the Dame
Celia Lipton Farris
National Lifetime
Achievement Award. This
exclusive award was
first given to Dame
Farris at The Golden
Anniversary Gala in 2008
for dedicating her time,
talent, energy and
resources to the
organization for almost
30 years. Mr. Park has
also been a loyal and
dedicated benefactor of
the American Cancer
Society for more than 20
years which is why he
has been chosen to
receive this
distinguished honor.
“I am so honored to be
receiving this award.
Dame Celia has been a
dear and treasured
friend for many years,
and I am grateful and
humbled to be receiving
an award that was first
created for her. In
addition, the American
Cancer Society is a
cause very close to my
heart and I am proud to
be part of an
organization that is
making such incredible
progress in the fight
against cancer,” said
Park.
The American Cancer
Society is thrilled to
once again have Dame
Celia Lipton Farris
serving as Honorary
Chairwoman and Chairman
Emeritus. Patrick
Park and Nathalie
Fernandez
are serving together as
Honorary Chairmen for
the third year in a row.
In addition, Mr. Park
and Ms. Fernandez are
graciously hosting the
Annual Gala Kick-Off
Cocktail Reception
at The Mar-a-Lago Club’s
Gold and White Ballroom
on Saturday, December
11, 2010. The exquisite
evening will honor the
hard work and incredible
dedication of Dame Celia
Lipton Farris, as well
as the generous
supporters that make the
event a success year
after year.
The American Cancer
Society is fortunate to
have a loyal list of
donors who help to raise
the critical funds
needed for the fight
against cancer. Proceeds
raised through the
“Cancer Gala” further
the organization’s
mission to eliminate
cancer as a major health
problem. The American
Cancer Society combines
an unyielding passion
with nearly a century of
experience to save lives
and end suffering from
cancer. We save lives
by helping people
stay well through
preventing cancer or
detecting it early; by
helping people get
well by being there
for them during and
after a cancer
diagnosis; by
finding cures
through investment in
ground breaking
discovery; and by
fighting back by
rallying lawmakers to
pass laws to defeat
cancer and rallying
communities worldwide to
join the fight. As the
nation’s largest
non-governmental
investor in cancer
research, contributing
about $3.4 billion, we
turn what we know about
cancer into what we do.
The 53rd
Annual American Cancer
Society Gala is by
invitation only; tickets
are $750 per person.
