The Marin Show: Art of the Americas is proud to
announce that the Opening Night Preview on Friday, February
25th at the Marin Civic Center in San Rafael and
benefiting the acclaimed local charity Homeward Bound of
Marin for the second year in a row, will feature recipes
from top Bay Area chef Scott Howard (FIVE, SCOTT HOWARD,
Brick & Bottle), who will also be in attendance.
"Brick & Bottle was conceived to be a true community
restaurant and for us that means supporting organizations
that are doing good work here in Marin. That's why we have
our charity corkage program and it's why I'm involved with
events like this one", says Howard. "Homeward Bound is about
giving people a second chance, an opportunity, and
especially in these tough economic times, that's really
important."
The Opening Night Preview benefiting Homeward Bound of Marin
will begin at 6:30pm on Friday. Chef Scott Howard will be in
attendance to show his support for the organization and will
contribute his recipes to the non-profit's social enterprise
project, Fresh Starts Catering, which is catering the
Opening Night Preview. Menu items to date include Dungeness
Crab Cake Bites and Buttermilk & Chive Biscuits with Pimento
Cheese.
During the evening, guests will have the opportunity for
'first look' at the most substantive and extensive ongoing
showcase focused on antique American Indian, Pre-Columbian,
Spanish Colonial and contemporary American Indian art. In
its 27th year, this show brings together top and passionate
dealers, collectors, artists, and academia from across the
world offering pottery, textiles, sculpture,
jewelry, beadwork, baskets, paintings, and photography,
ranging in price from low 100s to 100s of thousands of
dollars. Renowned Native American artist Daniel Ramirez will
also be launching "The World's Longest Native American
Painting."
Earning his reputation as the chef at the popular Fork
restaurant in San Anselmo, and now co-founder and partner of
newly launched Brick & Bottle, Howard is known for classic
American dishes with signature touches, such as his famous
Pimento Cheeseburger with Cabbage Slaw and Chili, Petrale
Sole with Dungeness Crab Potato Puree, and Butterscotch
Pudding with Peanut Brittle and Whipped Cream. Attracted to
the rich culinary community of the Bay Area, Scott relocated
to the West Coast after working at a number of prestigious
restaurants in Florida, and opened his first and highly
acclaimed restaurant, Fork. Now, after over five years at
both the eponymous SCOTT HOWARD restaurant in San Francisco
and at FIVE in Berkeley, Scott has returned to his Marin
home base as Executive Chef at his new restaurant, Brick
& Bottle. His signature California cooking with a twist
on classic comfort foods has been eagerly welcomed by his
strong local following.
In an effort to give back to the community, Scott and Brick
& Bottle team also work with Guide Dogs for the Blind,
Hospice by the Bay, and Meals on Wheels, as well as always
supporting the local Marin schools.
All proceeds from the Opening Night will benefit Homeward
Bound of Marin, whose mission of "opening doors to safety,
dignity, hope and independence" is coupled with a vision
that "everyone deserves a place to call home". HBofM is
Marin County's chief provider of shelter and residential
services for homeless families and individuals. Opening
