On Thursday
evening, June 14th, the American-Italian Cancer
Foundation will be celebrating 25 years of service to the
women of New York City through the mobile, no-cost breast
cancer screening program with
Celebrate in Pink,
a fabulous party that will be
held at Espace, on 42nd Street between 11th
and 12th Avenues, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
AICF’s mobile,
no-cost Breast Cancer Screening Program serves economically
disadvantaged, medically underserved New York City women in
neighborhoods with high poverty rates, low screening rates,
and high incidences of breast cancer who are fearful,
ambivalent, or distrustful of the health care system and are
simply not being screened through other programs; 59% are
uninsured. We reach them by providing a convenient service,
and through a proactive, personalized approach to patient
outreach. AICF was recently featured in the Avon
Foundation’s “Grantee Spotlight.”

Celebrate in Pink is
for breast cancer survivors, members of the scientific and
medical communities, and for all men and women in New York
City who wish to “give back” to those less fortunate. Funds
raised will support the program’s outreach activities and
medical services, as well as fulfill the costs of renovation
of AICF’s large mobile clinic to accommodate the new,
state-of-the-art digital mammography screening equipment
that was purchased in the fall of 2011.
Honorary
chairs for Celebrate
in Pink Speaker
Christine C. Quinn of The Council of the City of New York,
and Janelle Hail, Founder and CEO of the National Breast
Cancer Foundation in Texas.
