JOIN COPLAND HOUSE AND
CHEF MICHAEL WHITE FOR
"NIGHTFALL ON THE RIVERIA"
Annual Culinary and Musical Gala at Ai Fiori
Creative icons like Stravinsky, Picasso, Cocteau, Diaghilev,
Matisse, Hemingway, Fitzgerald, and Chagall found
inspiration, solace and delight on the Mediterranean coasts
of France, Monaco, and Italy. On Sunday, September 30 at
5.30pm, those attending Copland House's annual, and
eagerly-anticipated, culinary and musical gala can do the
same, as they bask in the glamour, sophistication,
enchantment, and delectable tastes of the Riviera. Chef
Michael White, whose Ai Fiori ("one of the best restaurants
to open in New York in the last 12 months" - New York Times)
celebrates the region's culinary tastes, textures, and
scents, collaborates that evening with the
internationally-acclaimed Music from Copland House ensemble
and guest artists.
Bringing his "soulful amalgamation of French technique and
Italian passion, executed with great skill" (New York
Times), Chef White will create a memorable 4-course
gastronomic tour of the region especially for this
one-night-only event. The musical menu, performed live,
includes dazzling and delectable selections about life, art,
and romance prepared by Igor Stravinsky, Francis Poulenc,
Richard Danielpour, John Harbison, and Cole Porter. As
always,
this Copland House gala includes a silent auction and a
souvenir program journal.
Previous sold-out galas at The Four Seasons, Daniel, Le
Bernardin, Red Rooster Harlem, and Del Posto have been
hailed as "a triumphant collaboration" (Food and Wine) and
"ideal" (The New York Observer). Westchestermagazine raved,
"always one of our favorite evenings of the year, this
annual Copland House event can be counted upon to uphold the
world of original, adventurous music and food, even if other
worlds seem to be crumbling around us... unforgettable,
heady, and divine."
Nightfall on the Riviera benefits the musical, educational,
and public programs at Copland House, the award-winning
creative center for American music at Copland's National
Historic Landmark home in Westchester County. The evening at
Ai Fiori in the Hotel Setai at 400 5th Avenue begins at
5:30pm with cocktails, followed by an unforgettable culinary
and musical experience embracing the senses. Individual
tickets are $500, with sponsorships beginning at $1,250, a
modest sum when compared with the $40.7 million paid in 2011
for Picasso's La lecture. Gala Co-chairs are Robert and
Carol Morris and O. Anthony Maddalena. Contact Copland House
