The Cleftones, known as The Heart and Soul of Doo Wop and R&B
,
are recognized as one of the central recording groups in the evolution of Rhythm & Blues and Rock & Roll music. The greatness of the Cleftones can be measured by multiple Billboard Top 40 hits, recordings of over 50 single records, 12 albums, and over 20 millions records to date. Their effective renditions of old standards which have become rock and roll classics, such as their million selling Heart and Soul and For Sentimental Reasons, combined with their original mega hits, such as You Baby You, Cant We Be Sweethearts, and Little Girl of Mine, have created a repertoire of classic hits.

The Cleftones have shared the stage with many musical legends including: Chuck Berry, Paul Anka, Little Richard, Buddy Holly, The Platters, LaVern Baker, Cab Calloway, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Jackie Wilson, among others. In addition to performing extensively throughout the United States, in venues including The Apollo, Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, the Wimberly Convention Center in London, and the LA Amphitheater in Los Angeles, to name a few, they have toured Europe, the Caribbean and Canada.

The Cleftones television career is equally impressive, beginning with Dick Clarks American Bandstand, they have been featured subjects on CBS, ABC, and VH1 music specials, and NBCs Apollo Hall of Fame Special. Movie credits include American Graffiti, The Bronx Tale, and Goodfellas, to name a few. The Cleftones today consists of founding member Herb Cox, who is joined by Nick Saunders, Kenny Whiteside, Mac Todd, and
Kevin Jeter.

History of East End Arts

Established in 1972 as an outgrowth of the successful Woodrow Wilson Humanities Series, East End Arts began as the East End Arts & Humanities Council, a resource for the local arts community with a commitment of supporting and advocating for the arts community. The organization has developed and grown significantly since its start and now operates an Art Gallery and School of the Arts, and presents a variety of events and programs to promote the arts year-round to inspire our communities through support, advocacy and education. East End Arts operates in three main locations: the East End Arts grounds in Riverhead, NY; Brecknock Hall in Greenport, NY; and Rosalie Dimon Gallery at Jamesport Manor Inn in Jamesport, NY. Signature annual events include: Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival (May), Teeny Awards (spring), Harvest Gospel Concerts Series (November) and Winterfest Jazz on the Vine (winter). As a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, East End Arts relies on public and private foundation grant funding, as well as individual and corporate contributions to continue presenting arts opportunities to our region.

# # # East End Arts, established in 1972, is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit arts organization, and operates a School of the Arts, an Art Gallery, and presents a variety of events and programs to promote the arts year-round.
