FORT lauderdale, FL (October 9, 2012) ? Actor Val Kilmer will
host an exclusive fundraiser for The Bougainvilla House, a newly
designed 30,000 sq. ft., 40-room residential facility for the
intervention and treatment of substance abuse in adolescents, on
November 14 from 6-10 p.m. Guests are invited to enjoy a
cocktail hour from 6-7 p.m. followed by a gourmet dinner aboard
the luxurious 170-ft. Lady Windridge yacht charter which has
been graciously donated by Kathleen Windridge, owner of
Windridge Yacht Charters.
The Bougainvilla House amended its mission to provide care to
adolescents suffering from addiction. President and CEO Janet
Davis stated, "Because of the tremendous need for a residential
facility to treat the increasing number of adolescents suffering
from addiction in our community, we realized that The
Bougainvilla House would be the perfect place to provide the
specialized treatment programs necessary for a successful
recovery from addiction."
The non-profit organization provides a safe haven with a
professional staff dedicated to the successful recovery of every
guest/patient. The treatment programs are unique in their policy
to continue treatment of adolescents who temporarily "slide off"
the program. Instead of terminating their treatment, The
Bougainvilla House will re-assess and re-adjust the plan to
assure their successful recovery.
Understanding that substance abuse affects the
entire family, the relaxed atmosphere of the individual, family
and group counseling rooms in The Family Center encourages
communication, a vital part of treatment and recovery. The
Bougainvilla House and The Family Center are part of
Bougainvillage, a charming community of buildings and cottages
that offer a comprehensive array of substance abuse and mental
health services.
Mr. Kilmer is recognized as being one of the greatest leading
actors of his time with many diverse roles such as Jim Morrison
in Oliver Stone's The Doors, Doc Holliday in Tombstone and Bruce
Wayne/Batman in Batman Forever. He became popular in the
mid-1980s after appearing in the cult classic Real Genius and
the blockbuster action films Top Gun and Willow. He is presently
working on his one-man show Citizen Twain inspired from the work
on his film project Mark Twain and Mary Baker Eddy. He will tour
Citizen Twain around the country in 2013.
