The Museum of Modern Art's Party in the Garden, a benefit
event to be held on May 21, will honor Mayor Michael R.
Bloomberg and the City of New York and artists Ellsworth
Kelly and Cindy Sherman, in recognition of their support of
MoMA. The event also celebrates the 90th birthday of Mr.
Kelly. Co-Chairs of the event are Diane von Furstenberg and
Barry Diller, Alisa and Dan Doctoroff, Agnes Gund, Jo Carole
and Ronald S. Lauder, and Jack Shear. Honorary co-chairs are
Marie-Josée Kravis and
Jerry I. Speyer. The Party in the Garden is generously
sponsored by Cartier.
The Party in the Garden will feature a live musical
performance by the band fun., whose platinum album, Some
Nights, earned fun. six nominations at the 55th Annual
Grammy Awards, with the band winning two of the top
awards—"Song of the Year" and "Best New Artist." Some Nights
was also named one of the top albums of the year by Rolling
Stone, Spin, NPR, and Entertainment Weekly, who also named
fun. one of their "Entertainers of the Year." The
performance will take place in MoMA's Abby Aldrich
Rockefeller Sculpture Garden as part of the gala's
After-Party, which goes from 9:00 p.m. to midnight.
The Party in the Garden benefits The Annual Fund of The
Museum of Modern Art and the maintenance of The Abby Aldrich
Rockefeller Sculpture Garden. The party also benefits the
Museum's general operating fund, helping to make possible
the Museum's educational programs and the care, study, and
exhibition of its collection.
Tables to the dinner range from $25,000 to $100,000, with
individual tickets beginning at $2,500. Tickets to the After
Party from 9:00 p.m. to midnight are $200 in advance and
$300 at the door.
VIP tickets for the After-Party are $500, which grants the
ticketholder access to the Museum's Terrace 5 Lounge
from 9:00 p.m. to midnight.
