The Beach Club doors opened at 10 am on
Wednesday, December 11th to celebrate the 75th
Anniversary of Opportunity Inc. for a celebratory
luncheon and holiday boutique gallery.
Laura Mann and Jackie Crenshaw will be this year’s
recipients of the prestigious Winifred Anthony
Award in recognition of their gifts of time,
treasures and talent to the children at Opportunity
for over a decade. The event is chaired by
Lucy Anthony and Laura Johnston, granddaughters of Winifred
Anthony, the founder of Opportunity.
Opportunity, Inc.
was founded, by members of the Women’s Guild from Bethesda
by the Sea, Episcopal Church, in 1939. Opportunity, Inc.,
is the oldest charity in the Palm Beaches, and has made
major contributions to the less fortunate in the community,
with emphasis on low income families. Programs and
activities have been consistently designed and conducted in
order to “break the cycle” of poverty in our Community. The
current activities are centered on early childhood learning
at the Mary Alice Fortin Center in Westgate.
