The
Charles H. Wright 2014 Gala: The Ball
Benefit on
Saturday, October 11 will feature Art Deco Glam, Celebrity
Guests, Theatre Costumes, Red Carpet, Broadway Magic
and a Studio 54 Disco
There are Galas and then there are – galas.
Only in its fourth year, the Charles H. Wright Museum Gala
is the most highly anticipated benefit to hit the Detroit
scene in years. This spectacular and always stunning annual
event is the museum’s largest fundraiser, traditionally
drawing hundreds of leading figures from corporate,
government, media and cultural sectors.
This
jaw-dropping, out-the-box, black-tie extravaganza, the
Wright Ball, will take place at the Charles H. Wright Museum
of African American History, 315 E. Warren, Detroit,
Saturday, October
11, 2014 beginning
at 6:30 p.m. The theme this year is inspired by the museum’s
most recent exhibition, A
Theatre of Color: Costume’s for the Black Theatre by Myrna
Colley Lee. Guests
will experience the excitement and dazzle of Broadway and
the magic of New York —featuring art deco glam, wild theatre
costumes, high fashion, celebrity guests, eclectic dining
and “Studio 54” disco dancing into the night.
Highlights include:
· Indulgent
libations in a monumental tent that will take over the
museum grounds until the sun begins to set
· Guests
are then escorted via Red Carpet into a VIP reception in the
transformed rotunda which features more cocktails, hors
d’oeuvres and Playbills of the evenings’ “Theatre of Color”
Broadway-style show
· Served
in a supper- club-like atmosphere, guests will enjoy
decadent dinner cuisine, a short recognition program and
toast to a “surprise” Tony Award-winning guest
· The
evening culminates with all guests gathering for dessert in
a dance-til-you-drop party in a simulated set of “Studio 54”
· Silent
auction with works by some of Detroit’s
most preeminent artists, get-away packages and tickets to
some of the coveted Detroit sporting and entertainment event
