EVERYONE COUNTS FOR SUPER SUNDAY EFFORT
IN SOUTH
PALM BEACH COUNTY
The Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach
County is counting on the Jewish community to once again
answer the call on March 30. “Everyone Counts” is the theme
and the goal for the hundreds of excited volunteers planning
to participate in the annual Super Sunday Phone-A-Thon
taking place at Zinman Hall, 9901 Donna Klein Boulevard,
Boca Raton from 9:30am-6:30pm. Super Sunday inspires a real
call to action and shows that each person makes a difference
in the effort to support the Jewish community locally, in
Israel, and worldwide.
“Focusing
on the individual is quintessential to the success of our
efforts,” explained Eric Lebersfeld, who is Co-chairing
Super Sunday with his wife, Susan, as well as with Jill and
Jeff Shavitz. “Everyone we call on Super Sunday should
realize they are so fortunate to live in a community that
does so much good and that they, by simply making and
fulfilling a pledge, can so easily participate in this great
effort.”
It takes
a community
“Super Sunday is a way for everyone to make a
difference. Whoever can help in any way is valuable to our
effort. From teens to seniors, everyone is encouraged and
welcome to join us,” said Jill Shavitz, Super Sunday
co-chair. “Super Sunday is a day that everyone can feel good
about. Every call made and every call answered is
important. It feels so good and natural to get involved and
to know that everyone is helping build and support the
Jewish community.”
From individuals and groups, from country
clubs, agencies, synagogues and everyone in between,
everyone bands together as one community to support the
Federation. Raffle prizes, refreshments and camaraderie
make the day fun for the volunteers who only have to commit
two hours of their time. The first shift is from
9:30-11:30am (breakfast served at 9:00am); second shift
11:30am – 1:30pm; third shift 4:30-6:30pm. Teens in grades
8-12 are welcome (accompanied by youth leaders or parents)
for the third shift from 4:30pm-6:30pm. Community service
hours will be granted, and the top teen fundraisers will
receive prizes.
Every
donation counts
The
future of programs vital to the Jewish community depends on
each person to answer their Super Sunday call and to pledge
the critical dollars needed. “Everyone
counts from a giving aspect too. Each donation, no matter
the size, is important to raise essential funds to help
others in our Jewish community. For our Federation programs
to sustain and thrive, every gift matters. Federation helps
and changes lives,” explained Jill Shavitz.
The Super Sunday Mitzvah Project Food Drive
is another opportunity to be counted on to fulfill a mitzvah
for the community. Donations are needed to stock the shelves
of the Jacobson Family Food Pantry at Jewish Family
Services, which provides for more than 600 members of the
community. Everyone is asked to contribute non-perishable
food items including kosher for Passover food, as well as
personal toiletries. Donations will be accepted on Super
Sunday, and collection boxes will also be set up in the
Federation lobby prior to March 30.
Because the Jewish community flourishes as a
whole when individuals step up, Eric Lebersfeld encourages
everyone to do their part to support the Jewish Federation
of Palm Beach County on Super Sunday, “Every
volunteer counts. Every dollar counts. Every person in need
in counts. Everyone counts.”
Super
Sunday is generously sponsored by BB&T, and by In-Kind
Sponsors Hotwire Communications, Wizard Creations and Atlas
Party Rental. Everyone is invited to become a Telephone
Sponsor at $100 per phone.
