The Only Real Game, about
baseball in a remote and isolated state in northeast
India. We will be presented April
5th @ 11:00 am and April 7th @ 12:15 pm as
part of the Palm
Beach International Film Festival at
the Cinemark
Palace 20 Theater in Boca Raton. As a longtime
baseball executive, I served as the Baseball Liaison for
the film, arranging for the donation of equipment and
the visits by the Major League Baseball coaches. It
is a very hard film to describe.
Film critic Jeffrey
Lyons may have said it best:
“This is certainly one of the most unusual movies ever
made about baseball. It is also inspiring and tells a
story which must be told. It combines baseball with
human rights, with international relations, and human
dignity. It’s unlike anything you've ever seen.” Jeffrey

to get a better sense of the film,
it's depth and beauty. Among the striking impressions is
the strong determination of the women in this culture as
they have not only become activists for civil rights,
but serve as some of the best baseball coaches and
players. To quote one of them, when she is on the field,
she is "in another world." One of the baseball players
expresses his love of the game as many of us do here in
America when he says, "Baseball is like breathing."
This is truly a very special film for
both men and women whether or not one is a "baseball"
fan. I look forward to seeing you there. If you have any
additional ideas on how to get the word out, especially
with any radio interviews and social media, please let
me know. Also, we are interested in including a WWII Vet
who was stationed in India in our post-film Q&A if you
are able to locate one.
