̶̶ The American Federation of Arts (AFA) presents the 2015
AFA Spring Luncheon featuring a conversation between famed
contemporary artist Will Cotton and journalist and editor
Alina Cho, to be held at a private club on the Upper East
Side on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at noon.
The annual AFA Spring Luncheon has become one of the AFA’s
most anticipated events of the season, bringing together
passionate art enthusiasts, prominent museum directors, and
business professionals whose longstanding commitment to the
arts are vital to the mission of the AFA. Proceeds from the
event go in direct support of the AFA’s exhibitions and
educational programs.
Will Cotton is
internationally recognized for his utopian landscape
paintings, drawings, and prints composed of sugary desserts,
often inhabited by figures. Cotton's work has explored
gluttony, beauty, and unquenchable desire. He is represented
by Mary Boone Gallery in New York, and is included in
numerous museum and private collections. Cotton served as
the artistic director of the California Gurls music video
for pop singer Katy Perry and was commissioned by the
Guggenheim Museum in 2012 to create the set for their annual
performance of Peter
and the Wolf.
Alina Cho is an
award-winning journalist recognized for her reporting from
inside North Korea, her coverage of the historic first
election of President Barack Obama, and her participation
with the CNN team that covered the aftermath of Hurricane
Katrina. Cho is the host of a lecture series at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art called “The Atelier with Alina
Cho.” She is currently Editor at Large at Ballantine Bantam
Dell, a division of Penguin Random House, and the former
host of CNN’s “Fashion: Backstage Pass.”
