The
American Friends of the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba (AFLFC)
will celebrate its 15th anniversary building cultural
bridges between the U.S and Cuba atits annual
fundraising event A
Havana Night Benefit Gala. Honorees are Harry
Belafonte, social activist, singer, songwriter and
actor; James Durkin, Senior Vice President of Tishman
Construction Corp.; Danny Glover, humanitarian, actor,
and producer; Michael Krinsky, Senior Partner at the law
firm of Rabinowitz Boudin Standard Krinsky & Lieberman,
P.C. The festive Gala will take place on October
29, 2015, at the Copacabana Nightclub located on 268
West 47th Street in Manhattan.
AFLFC is honored
to present, in an exclusive concert, Dominican singer
José Alberto "El Canario" and Cuban musicians Fernándo
Dewars and Alden González from Septeto Santiaguero de
Cuba performing hits from their album, Tributo
a los Compadres No Quiero Llanto, nominated for a
2015 Latin Grammy.

historic changes in diplomatic relations between the
U.S. and Cuba. This major shift in policy supports our
efforts to provide outstanding exchanges in the arts for

the historic musical alliance between Septeto
Santiaguero de Cuba and Dominican salsero, José Alberto
"El Canario" nominated for the Best Traditional Tropical
Album at the 2015 Latin Grammy Awards - the fun-filled
evening will feature cocktails, a buffet dinner, an
award presentation and a live and silent auction
including priceless treasures and original works by
internationally recognized Cuban and American artists
such as Kcho, Yoan and Iván Capote, Carlos Quintana,
Wifredo Lam, Paul Jenkins, Giancarlo Impiglia among many

About Harry Belafonte
Harry Belafonte
is a social activist for political and humanitarian
causes to make the world a better place. He was involved
in the anti-apartheid movement and USA
for Africa and an
early supporter of the Civil Rights Movement in the
1950s and 1960s and close friend to Martin Luther King
Jr. In 1987 he became a UNICEF goodwill Ambassador and
is currently an American Civil Liberties Union celebrity
ambassador for juvenile justice issues. His exceptional
career as a singer, songwriter and actor has earned him
the title, King
of Calypso. Belafonte has won an Emmy award, a Tony
award, and three Grammy Awards, including a Lifetime
Achievement Award. In 1989 he received the Kennedy
Center Honors and in 1994 was awarded the National Medal
of Arts. In 2014, he received the Jean Hersholt
Humanitarian Award at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts
and Sciences' 6th Annual Governors Awards.
About James Durkin
James Durkin is
an active member of The American Friends of the Ludwig
Foundation of Cuba's Board of Directors. He understands
the importance of collaboration and has successfully
brought us new friends and supporters from his
influential community. During his 25+ year career,
Durkin has worked on a diverse mix of projects. From
skyscrapers to residential renovations; from airports to
a zoo, he has literally done it all from "A to Z."
Throughout much of his career he has been involved with
public sector projects, the Port Authority featuring
prominently. For the past six years he has been working
on the World Trade Center as Tishman's Executive for the
Tishman-Turner joint venture managing the Transportation
Hub. He is now embarking on yet another landmark project
as he starts the much needed LaGuardia Airport
Redevelopment.
About Danny Glover
Danny Glover is
a civil rights and political activist, actor, producer
and humanitarian. He is highly respected for his
community activism and philanthropic efforts, with a
special focus for economic justice, access to health
care and educational programs in the U.S. and Africa. He
was a Goodwill Ambassador for the U.N. Development
Program focusing on poverty, disease, and economic
development in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean,
and is currently a UNICEF Ambassador. In 2006, Glover
received the Directors Guild of America's Honor for his
humanitarian efforts. Glover has appeared in a wide
range of films from blockbusters to independent
features. He co-founded Louverture Films in 2005- a
company that develops and produces films of historical
relevance, social purpose, commercial value and artistic
integrity. He has won the Humanitarian Award at the BET
Awards, numerous Lifetime Achievement Awards and has
been nominated for four primetime Emmys and two Screen
Actors Guild Awards.
About Michael Krinsky
Michael Krinsky,
a loyal friend and advisor to The American Friends of
the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba on matters both simple and
complicated, is a senior partner at Rabinowitz Boudin
Standard Krinsky & Lieberman, P.C. Krinsky has long
spearheaded the Firm's representation of Cuba and is
Cuba's only U.S. counsel. The law firm has represented
the Cuban Government, its agencies and enterprises, in
often precedent-setting litigation, for over three
decades. With Alex Rosenberg and other prominent members
of the art community, he brought the lawsuit that ended
the U.S. embargo on the importation of Cuban art.
Krinsky assists numerous U.S. and third-country
companies and other clients to cope with U.S.
restrictions on transactions with Cuba, other sanctioned
countries, and U.S. export controls. He is considered
one of the leading experts on U.S. embargo laws and
regulations. His clients include U.S. and third-country
travel agencies, commercial companies, not-for-profits,
foundations, software developers, airplane charters,
entertainment and news organizations, cultural and
educational institutions, artists and art galleries,
among others.

Santiaguero de Cuba & José Alberto "El Canario"
Tributo
a Los Compadres No Quiero Llanto was
nominated for the Best Traditional Tropical Album for
the 2015 Latin Grammys. The album was the beginning of
the historic musical alliance between Septeto
Santiaguero de Cuba, natives of Santiago de Cuba and
Dominican salsero, José Alberto "El Canario." The idea
to produce a tribute to the famous group, Los Compadres
began during the 2011 Latin Grammy awards ceremony. As
the concept evolved, special guests in the music
community were invited to help pay homage to these
memorable icons of Traditional Cuban music. Tributo

special guests Oscar D'Leon, Eliades Ochoa, Andy
Montanez, Aymee Nuviola, Ismael Miranda, Tiburón

About The Ludwig
Foundation of Cuba
The Ludwig
Foundation of Cuba (LFC) is a unique, autonomous,
non-governmental and non-profit institution based in
Havana created to support, protect and promote
contemporary Cuban artists in Cuba and internationally,
