one-of-a kind race and fundraising event with 100 percent of
its net proceeds benefiting local charities, will take place
on Sunday, March 8, 2015 benefitting ALS Association,
Greater San Diego Chapter; Huntington's Disease Society of
America; Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego; National
Foundation of Autism Research; San Diego Police Officers
Association Widows & Orphans Fund; Team Red, White & Blue;
Toys for Joy; The Skinny Gene Project; Sienna's PlayGarden;
and Mama's Kitchen. Building on last years successful race,
the 2015 event will feature the same amazing start on Tony
Gwynn Drive under the Omni Sky Bridge and will follow a
signature, scenic course that showcases San Diegos
beautiful bay front and historic communities. The 5K course
is a shorter, fun-filled option that starts in Hillcrest and
enjoys a scenic view of Balboa Park as runners make their
way downhill into downtown San Diego. Finally, a relay
option allows two people to team up and run 6.55 miles each.
All races will finish in the Gaslamp District featuring a
live jumbotron and the 'Celebrate San Diego' Gaslamp block
party.
The San Diego Half Marathon is a premier race
and event that celebrates the beauty and uniqueness of the
city of San Diego while raising money to help local
community charities. The organization is a nonprofit
501(c)(3) with all net proceeds benefiting community service
projects and select charitable causes in San Diego. In
addition to charitable giving, the race was created to
catalyze volunteerism as a way to build community spirit and
boost neighborhoods in need of support. In addition to the
funds raised for various charities by the runners
themselves, the event itself has donated approximately
$200,000 for various community service projects and select
causes since its inception.
