Foster Carter Lyster

26, 1913- April 6, 2011

Mrs.
Amy Lyster was born in Meridan, Connecticut.
She was the widow of the esteemed attorney in Civil Law,
Philip Benton Lyster of Foster, Lyster & Obershay.
They lived in Fairfield, Connecticutt where they raised
their two sons.
She
attended high school in Meridan and Smith College in
Massachusetts, where she received a degree in Sociology and
Journalism. an avid reader and writer, Mrs. Lyster was
offered a job at the Record Journal in Meridan.
As active members in the community, Mrs. Lyster was an
officer of the Smith College Club, and past Secretary of
Smith College Class of 1934. I addition she was on the Board
of Deaconess in Greenfield Hill. For over thirty years, she
was a member of the prestigious Fairfield Literary Club, and
the co-founder of the Bridgeport Planned Parenthood as well
as she served as an active Board member for 20 years and as
Secretary.
Mrs. Lyster was a member of The Fairfield Beach Club,
where she played tennis until she was 85, and a swimmer.
She played Bridge until recently.
Her main interests were her family. She devoted her life to
her to caring for her husband and sons:
Robert Carter Lyster and Benton Randall Lyster II.
She is survived by her two sons, daughter in laws
Dianne McKinnon Lyster and Cassandra Seidenfeld Lyster, and
her grandchildren,
Amy Katherine Lyster of Boston and Philip Carter Lyster of
New York
