I wanted to make sure you knew the very
sad news that my beloved father Richard
passed away on June 25th.
He had been battling advanced cancer the
past two years, and was very sick
especially these past three months,
spending his final weeks in an ICU unit
in Alexandria, VA.
Fortunately, I was able to be with him
every day the past few weeks, and did my
shows from the DC bureau. I was also
with him when he passed away, and I had
just told him how his legacy will live
on forever through the
bestselling book my dad and I did
together recently, and how much I loved
him.
In his final weeks, we hung a large book
poster in his room, and many people in
the hospital were already familiar with
the emotional story and had the book for
both of us to sign. They had such
admiration for my father and what he
endured, and doctors were doing all they
could do to save him. Some even wept
when he died, as they too were praying
for a miracle, knowing this was a man
who had beaten overwhelming odds before.
I'll send more details soon, but funeral
services will take place August 3rd at
3pm at Blessed Sacrament Church at 1427
Braddock Road in Alexandria, VA, just
outside Washington DC, with a reception
to follow nearby. It'd be wonderful if
you could come. We will include some
Polish military honors in the service,
so I hope it's a great tribute to an
amazing man and terrific father.
Below is a link to the funeral home's
obituary. Should you wish, in lieu of
flowers, please kindly make a donation
in my father's name Richard Cosby to
his favorite charity, the USO, which
helps wounded troops and their families
through their programs. As many of you
know, my father escaped from a Nazi
POW camp in WWII and was rescued by US
forces. My dad was always grateful to
the US military and so proud of his rich
Polish heritage.
