Boca Raton,
Florida - - - Lilies were in full bloom as loyal
fans of the Lilly Pulitzer designs recently attended the Boca Raton
unveiling of the Jubilee collection celebrating 50 years
of Lilly Pulitzer. The event was hosted at the Lilly
Pulitzer store at the Town Center Mall in
Boca Raton where
a special personal appearance was made by Lilly’s Design
Director, Mira Jarvinen Fain.
Mira has been with Lilly
Pulitzer since June 2005. Her specialty, background and
passion are in dresses.
Fifty years ago, a
wave of pioneering prints in the form of pink monkeys
dancing, green elephants swimming and flowers blooming
in a rainbow of psychedelic colors hit the American
fashion scene. It all started when Lilly, a young,
sassy
New York socialite, opened a juice stand in
Palm Beach in
the 1950s. The citrus stains that splashed upon her
clothing inspired her to create brightly colored designs
which became the unofficial uniform for the affluent at
play, and Lilly’s signature pink and green colors
emerged as the banner of the authentic Palm Beach lifestyle. The
Jubilee, true to Lilly’s entertaining philosophy, will
be having a celebrations from coast to coast in honor of
this exciting moment in the brand’s history.
The Museum of
Lifestyle & Fashion History chairperson for the Lilly
Pulitzer event was Nicole Winslow Burns of Delray
Beach, and her committee members were Kristin
Calder of Boynton Beach, Maggie Dickenson of Delray
Beach, Kristen Kerl of Greenacres, Lori J. Durante of
Delray Beach, and Cheryl Moffett of Wellington.
For year 2009, the
Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History is launching a $10
Campaign for its Tenth Anniversary. The "10 for
$10" Campaign is a donation of
just $1.00 for each year of the MLFH’s first ten years
of operation or you can contribute ANY amount.
Donations can be made online by visiting MLFHMUSEUM.org
or by mailing checks payable to the Museum of
Lifestyle & Fashion History at
P.O. Box 6127,
Delray Beach, Florida 33482.
The Museum of
Lifestyle & Fashion History has now acquired more than
1.4 acres of property in Boynton
Beach, Florida
(Palm Beach County) for a proposed museum facility for
the purpose of presenting permanent and traveling
exhibits.
The Museum is also
happy to announce that it has been offered a
temporary home in an 8,000 square feet space
at the Boynton Beach Mall in Boynton Beach, Florida which will also allow the Museum
opportunities to present exhibits and educational
programs while it raises monies for the proposed
permanent building. Plans are to open in the
temporary space by Summer 2009. Some of the exhibitions
that are being planned by the Museum of Lifestyle &
Fashion History for display at the temporary location
include a historical showcase of Lilly Pulitzer
fashions. Plans are for the Lilly Pulitzer history
exhibit to open by Fall 2009.
Your financial
support to MLFH for the temporary location at the
Boynton Beach Mall will allow it to continue to grow,
and most importantly, to reach our goal of building a
permanent museum facility. A permanent facility will
allow this Museum to expand its hugely popular historic
bus tour program as well as host international
exhibitions.
