The Eleventh
Annual Old Bags Luncheon held at The
Breakers on March 26th to benefit The Center
for Family Services of Palm Beach County was a
spectacular success, chaired by Amie Swan and Erin
McGould with Mary Freitas as honorary chairwoman.
The event featured
a champagne reception and magnificent silent auction of
designer handbags and jewelry. Saks Fifth Avenue was the
Platinum Corporate Benefactor and Tony Duquette for Saks
Fifth Avenue Palm Beach was the Gold Corporate
Benefactor, donating an 18 kt gold and citrine brooch
for the grand raffle prize. Silent Auction Benefactors
were Neiman Marcus and Harl Taylor BAG from Nassau, The
Bahamas. Grand Benefactors were Erin and Sean McGould
and Benefactors were Lisa and Peter Erdmann, Frances and
Jeffrey Fisher and Sheryll and David Harkins. Platinum
Patrons included Florence and Lawrence De George, Mary
and Mark Freitas, Arlette and Robert Gordon, Suzy
Minkoff, Kit and William Pannill, and Amie and Jack
Swan.
During the luncheon George
Hamilton dazzled nearly 400 guests with his
light-heartedness and charm, sharing humorous anecdotes
about his life and career. The event also highlighted a
former client, who spoke about how The Center helped her
regain her self-worth and dignity after being in a
domestically abusive relationship. “This great
organization has saved my life by giving me the tools to
move on…to learn to love myself and others, knowing that
no one can ever take that away from me again.”
Funds raised from
the Old Bags Luncheon benefit The Center
for Family Services’ counseling services for children
and adults who are victims of domestic violence and
sexual abuse through the SAFE Kids Program, as well as
The Center’s emergency shelter for homeless families
with children, Pat Reeves Village. The organization’s
mission is strengthening families through counseling,
education and homeless intervention.
