Carlton
Hobbs, the pre-eminent international
antiques dealer, mounted a special
exhibition called "ON TOPS: Table
Tops from the 2nd Century AD to the 19th
Century," which opened at his
gallery, located at 60 East 93rd Street,
(between Madison and Park Avenues), on
Wednesday, May 13th and will be on view
until May 22, 2009.
"This exhibition focuses on a collection
of twenty extraordinary tops dating from
the 2nd century AD to the 19th century,"
said Carlton Hobbs. "It includes
examples of museum quality tops made of
silver, fossilized wood, pietra dura,
Roman mosaic and porcelain."
Carlton Hobbs is a noted independent
dealer in rare antique furniture and
historic objects. Founded in 1973 and
headquartered in New York, the firm
acquires researches and sells antiques
to museums and discerning clients
throughout the world.
