Several hundred
South Floridians celebrated the reopening of the
Simon Wiesenthal Center Southern Region, and enjoyed
the dramatic documentary Winston Churchill:
Walking With Destiny.
The guests were enlightened and deeply moved by
the true story of one of the 20th
century’s most celebrated figures.
Rabbi Marvin Hier
and Richard Trank wrote a beautiful script that was
produced by Moriah’s Films, the Simon Wiesenthal
Center’s two-time Academy Award™- winning film
production company, and is being screen throughout
the United States. The film is narrated by Sir Ben
Kingsley, and recounts Churchill's years in the
political wilderness, his early opposition to Adolf
Hitler and Nazism, and his support for Jews under
threat by the Nazi regime. The film also focuses on
his return to government by the demand of the
British people and his rise to the Prime Minister's
office in 1940.
During the delicious dessert
reception following the screenings at the
Boca Cinemark and the Regal Cinema South Beach, many
of the guests commented on feeling uplifted by the
effective showing of the power of Churchill’s
uncompromising stance against Hitler.
