(PALM BEACH, FL---)
The
friendship was palpable at “An Evening of
Friends,” the Fifth Annual Bipolar Dinner Dance
of The Ryan Licht Sang Bipolar Foundation at
Club Colette on January 31, 2010, chaired by
Christine Curtis, Lori Gendelman, Dorothy Kohl
and Denise Hanley, who welcomed the guests with
Junior Chairmen Micah and Rob Ford, founders of
the Young Friends of the Foundation. The
friendship theme was also reflected by the
participation of the Honorary Chairmen that
included Julie Cummings, Lore Dodge, Frances
Fisher, Sandy Heine, Susan Keenan, Brantley
Knowles, Mary Alice Pappas, Mamie Walton and
Mary Webster.
After the cocktail reception, guests moved to
the dining room where Lori Gendelman and Dorothy
Kohl, who directed the décor, emphasized shades
of purple and lavender aglow in candlelight.
During dinner, Dusty Sang, Ryan’s father,
thanked the Foundation’s friends and supporters
and spoke about the Foundation’s progress over
the past five years. Since its inception,
www.questforthetest.org
, the Foundation’s informational and interactive
website has reached people in all
50 United States and in 67 countries. The
website serves as an important outreach resource
for awareness, understanding and research about
child and adolescent Bipolar Disorder and the
Foundation.
The guests enjoyed
dinner and dancing to the live music of
Euphoria. An evening highlight was the raffle
drawing for a one-of-a-kind pair of chalcedony
“Flower” brooches and matching ear clips,
designed by the renowned, international couture
designer, Tony White, and donated by Peter
Martino, who attended the event. The set, valued
at $10,000, was created exclusively to benefit
the Foundation’s special evening in Palm Beach
and was won by Michael Scharf.
The Ryan Licht Sang
Bipolar Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public
charitable organization, established by Joyce
and Dusty Sang in honor of their son, Ryan Licht
Sang, who passed away in August 2004 at the age
of 24. Ryan, who was born and raised in Palm
Beach, suffered from early-onset bipolar
disorder, a serious mental illness that
manifests with recurring episodes of mania and
depression. Ryan did not survive because of the
state of medical science.
The Ryan Licht Sang
Bipolar Foundation’s mission is to foster
awareness, understanding and research for Child
and Adolescent Bipolar Disorder, and through its
“Quest For The Test™” initiative, to
find an empirical test for Bipolar Disorder so
that early detection in children and adolescents
becomes a reality.
Proceeds from the
“An Evening of Friends” Dinner Dance will help
fund the Foundation’s mission. For information
