Palm Beach, FL- On March 27, 2010, friends and supporters gathered at the lovely Palm Beach home of Louise Stephaich for an annual benefit to raise funds for Hôpital Albert Schweitzer Haiti.  This year's earthquake in Haiti propelled Louise Stephaich and many close friends and generous supporters to raise approximately $1,000,000 from the Florida community.  This special evening included cocktails, as well as a silent and live auction conducted by Tommy Quick.

Louise Stephaich's uncle, Dr. William Larimer Mellon and his wife Gwen, created Hôpital Albert Schweitzer Haiti over 50 years ago,
after personally consulting with and being inspired by Dr. Albert Schweitzer.  Hôpital Albert Schweitzer Haiti is a comprehensive
 medical facility located ninety miles north of Port au Prince.  It is now one of the only operating hospitals left in the country and is overwhelmed with gravely ill and injured children and adults.  As a full-service hospital, it continues to serve as a beacon of light and
hope for those now requiring surgery for prostheses and other lifesaving procedures. During the 53 years of its existence,
Hôpital Albert Schweitzer Haiti has never closed its doors.

"The mass devastation and human suffering continues to be truly beyond our comprehension," said Louise Stephaich. 
"I am so grateful for all of the supporters and friends who helped raise not only funds, but also hope for those suffering in Haiti." 

This list includes the likes of Ruth Cushing, the Jack Basses, the Anson Beards, Lee Bierley, Lesley Smith, Danielle and Kelly Moore,
Kim Campbell, Bea Cayser, Helen Cluett, the Les Daniels, Price Michael & Princess Maria Pia de Bourbon, Harriet De Rosiere, Michael Dixon, the Kane Bakers, the Joe Dryers, the Bart Burnaps, Jennifer Garrigues, the Richard Kaplans, the Don Millers and Evelyn Harrison.

Also, under the huge festive tent were Carolyn Buckley, Bill Eubanks, John Firestone, Pasty Preston, Chris Drake, Pamela Fiori,
Pamela Gottfried, Michael Graham, Frannie Scaife and Tom McCarther, Dan Hall, Nancy Reynolds, Frances Hayward, the Hal Howards,
 the Herb Jacobis, the Eric Javits, Sandy Krakoff and Martin Phillips, and Jorie Kent and Anthony Underwood, who both donated live auction trips going to Argentina and Eqypt, selling for $25,000.

There were dozens more, including Basha Hamilton, Dennis La Marsh, Pat Cook, and Bob Nederlander, all four of whom  generously donated incredibly sought after silent auction items selling for over $30,000, Bill Blundin. Michael Sullivan, Eileen Holberg, Brian Vaas, the John Niblacks, Countess Diane de la Begassiere, Baroness Jeannie Von Oppenheim, Frank Butler,  the John Waltons, head of the Hôpital’s board and his wife, Peggy, the Jeremy Lords, Ron Mandell and Terry O’Neal, the Sam Michaels, Lynn Paradis, Marquise and Marquise de San Damiam,  Dr. Jacqueline Gautier coming over from Haiti, on crutches, no less, Arnold Scassi and Parker Ladd, Chrissie Strawbridge, the Phillip Tedeschi’s coming down from Boston on behalf of BNYMellon Bank, the sponsor of the entire evening. Also, the Wallace Turners, the Harry Wulsins; and a host of volunteers, like Kristina von Mervelt, Polly Reed, Alexandra Harrison and Diana Odasso.
