its
16th
annual
Bid
Against
Hunger
restaurant
tasting
event
at
Manhattan’s
Metropolitan
Pavilion,
raising
nearly
$1,100,000.
The
money
raised
will
help
City
Harvest
provide
food
for
more
than
4.5
million
meals
for
New
York’s
hungry.
The
sold-out
event
featured
chefs
and
culinary
experts
from
over
70
of
Manhattan
and
Brooklyn’s
most
esteemed
restaurants,
including
Le
Bernardin,
Tribeca
Grill,
Craft,
Blue
Hill,
Buttermilk
Channel
and
Landmarc.
The
walk-around
tasting
and
auction
provided
guests
with
the
opportunity
to
see
some
of
the
city’s
top
chefs
in
action.
The
event
also
featured
12
live
auction
and
53
silent
auction
items,
including:
- Peaceful Place: Four-night stay in a four-bedroom villa at Amanyara in Turks and Caicos; private chef and butler included. Winning bid: A record-setting $120,000
- Sophisticated Tastes: A wine class and custom wine tasting with Le Bernardin wine director Aldo Sohm, tour of the kitchen and meal for eight at designed by four-star chef Eric Ripert at Le Bernardin Winning bids: Two winners – each $30,000
- Tasteful Affair: Marc Murphy (Benchmarc), David Lombardo (wine and beverage director, Benchmarc) and Francois Payard (Francois Payard Bakery) to cater party for 20. Winning bid: $20,000

feeding

city's
hungry
men,
women,
and
children.
This
year,
City
Harvest
will
collect
28
million
pounds
of
excess
food
from
all
segments
of
the
food
industry,
including
restaurants,
grocers,
corporate
cafeterias,
manufacturers,
and
farms.
This
food
is
then
delivered
free
of
charge
to
nearly
600
community
food
programs
throughout
New
York
City
using
a
fleet
of
trucks
and
bikes
as
well
as
volunteers
on
foot.
Each
week,
City
Harvest
helps
over
300,000
hungry
New
Yorkers
find
their
next
meal.
