Jeffrey Menkes, President and CEO of New York Downtown
Hospital, announced the appointment of
Mr. Peter Minichiello as Senior Vice President
for Development, effective immediately.
Minichiello brings to this work at the Hospital some
twenty-five years of experience in fund-raising,
institutional advancement and not-for-profit management;
this includes planning for endowment and capital campaigns
and board relations. He will be working closely with Menkes,
with Mr. Christopher L. Mann, Chairman of the Hospital's
Board of Trustees, the trustees, and many staff members from
all Hospital departments to enhance external philanthropic
support and develop new areas of funding.
For more than eight years, Minichiello served as
Senior Vice President for External Affairs for Lighthouse
International, a leading not-for-profit organization
dedicated to providing vision rehabilitation services for
thousands of New Yorkers who are blind or visually
impaired. Prior to that, he was the Vice President,
Development and External Affairs, for AmFAR, the American
Foundation for AIDS Research. AmFAR funds biomedical
research in the fight against HIV/AIDS, supporting the
endeavors of hundreds of scientists nationally and
internationally.
Most recently, for over five years, Minichiello was
the Director of Development for the Boston Symphony
Orchestra, Inc., the world's largest orchestral
organization, which includes the Boston Symphony Orchestra,
Tanglewood, and the Boston Pops.
His experience also includes serving as a trustee on
the boards of two well-known
New York City not-for-profits, Film
Forum and The Second Stage Theatre. Additionally, he has
been on the board of directors and executive committee of
the AFP (Association of Fund-Raising Professionals.) He is
a graduate of Bard College in
New York.
