December 6, New York -- Artist, producer, songwriter, music
supervisor, and performer Steve Tyrell, now appearing at Café
Carlyle, received the 2012 Kitty Carlisle Hart Award of Merit
for Lifetime Achievement at The Glaucoma Foundation’s Annual
Black & White Ball at The Pierre on December 5th.
Presented personally by Ms. Hart until 2006, the Award was
presented in her memory by Ms. Hart’s daughter, New York
physician Dr. Catherine Hart, and her son, Chris Hart.
Grammy Award winner Steve Tyrell has achieved great success as a
producer, songwriter, music supervisor, and performer during his
five decades in the music business. Some 25 years after he
started working in the industry, it was his singing of “The
Way You Look Tonight” in the movie “Father of the Bride” in
1991 that pushed him center-stage as a vocalist.
In 2005, after the passing of the legendary Bobby Short, Steve
was asked by New York City’s Café Carlyle to take over their
holiday season, which Mr. Short had not missed in 36 years. For
the eighth year, now a fixture in New York, he is playing at
Café Carlyle to holiday crowds.
