New York City Champions of Hope
The Leukemia &
Lymphoma Society’s New York City Chapter Announces Local
2012
Man & Woman of the Year
May 21, 2012—
In just ten short weeks, 13 amazing
individuals raised more than combined $717,000 for blood
cancer research and patient services, as part of The
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Man & Woman of the Year
this year for New York City Chapter.
The two winners, Manu Nathan and Erin Zammett
Rudy were the top local fundraisers. The national title will
be awarded to the top fundraisers in the country, to be
announced this summer.
During a ten-week fundraising period
beginning with a kickoff celebration, the candidates were
judged solely on their success in raising money to help LLS
fund research to find cures and better therapies and provide
information and support to blood cancer patients and their
families.
Every dollar raised counts as one “vote.”
Manu Nathan and Erin Zammett Ruddy were the candidates with
the most “votes,” and were awarded the title of 2012 Man &
Woman of the Year at a grand finale celebration on May 17,
2012. The candidates competed in honor of LLS’s Boy & Girl
of the Year, local children who are blood cancer survivors
and sources of inspiration to others.
“LLS congratulates all of the candidates in
the 2012 Man & Woman of the Year campaign. Each of them used
their passion and determination to raise funds that give
thousands of people battling blood cancers the chance to
live better, longer lives and they are all champions,” said
Michele Przypyszny, Executive Director of the New York City
Chapter. “This is a campaign that celebrates not only the
individual accomplishments, but the collective success of
all these amazing candidates.”

global sports, fashion and media powerhouse. He advises on
