November 11, 2014 -
On Monday evening an elegant soiree that might have made
Marie Antoinette just a bit envious was staged in
Manhattan's most elegant hotel, the venerable Pierre, where
social empresses Elizabeth Stribling, Cecelia Black, and
Jean Shafiroff joined forces to assemble the Francophile
community to celebrate America's enduring love for French
culture and refinement, and to raise funds for the
restoration of ancient architectural vestiges that deserve
preservation on the other side of our Atlantic pond |
Ambassador Gerard
Araud, Consul General Bertrand Lotholary, and the Honorable
Denis de Kergolay were among those who sipped Veuve Cliquot
to honor interior designer Timothy Corrigan, while Alex
Donner's light-hearted orchestra kept them on their toes, as
the velvet tones of singer Cole Rumbough induced them to hum
the old favorites which made even the old-timers feel young
at heart. |
Among those thinking
themselves free spirits in Montmartre were Odile de
Schietere-Longchampt, William Ivey Long, Guy Robinson, Lee
Black, Martin Shafiroff, Gregory and Margaret Hedberg,
Frances and Bill Bruder, Peter and Barbara Regna, Chris and
Grace Meigher, Barbara and Donald Tober, Cynthia and
Tony Maltese, Zita Davison and Gary Lawrance, Thomas Warren
Thaler of Boston, Joy Marks of Upper Grandview, Teresa
Herrera of Palm Beach, Penny Grant, Victoria Wyman, Shelby
and Joel Wilcox, and Noelle Xie of Shanghai. |
