Gilda's Club NYC (GCNYC) was
founded in 1995 by Gene Wilder, psychotherapist Joanna
Bull, Mandy Patinkin, Joel Siegel, and other generous
individuals, in memory of Gilda Radner, the talented
comedian and original cast member of Saturday Night Live who
passed away in 1989 from ovarian cancer. During her illness,
Gilda was part of a cancer support community which inspired
her dream that anyone touched by cancer would be able to
receive the kind of emotional and social support she found
there. GCNYC's mission is to support, educate and empower
cancer patients and their families - women, men, teens and
children. Our innovative program is an essential complement
to medical care, providing support and networking groups,
educational lectures and workshops, and social activities,
all free of charge. |
