WHAT: The
Museum at FIT and The Madison Avenue BID held a press
conference at the museum to announce plans for the upcoming
Madison Avenue Fashion Heritage Week, taking place October
20 - 26. In an unprecedented partnership between 16 of the
world’s most preeminent luxury fashion brands, the Madison
Avenue Business Improvement District (BID) has organized
a multi-platform, immersive fashion heritage experience that
will feature specially created window exhibitions, supported
by a companion mobile app that will also be available
nationally. The app will go “live” at the press conference.
A private tour of Dance
and Fashion, currently on display at The Museum at FIT
will be offered. Madison Avenue Fashion Heritage Week will
benefit The Museum at FIT.
Through this public exhibition on Madison Avenue located
between 57th and
86th Streets
in New York City, visitors and local clients will learn the
remarkable stories of these iconic fashion brands. A
companion mobile app, found at www.MadisonAveFHW.org
will
add further dimension to this curated experience, providing
an audio/video tour depicting each brand’s heritage and
descriptions of the inspiration behind the archival works on
display. Dr. Valerie Steele will provide commentary.
