AFRICAN RAINFOREST CONSERVANCY’S 24th ANNUAL
ARTISTS FOR AFRICA BENEFIT
NEW YORK, NY – African Rainforest
Conservancy (ARC) President Carter Coleman and
Executive Director Namasha Schelling celebrated Earth
Day by welcoming over 150 guests to the charity’s 24th Annual
Artists for Africa Benefit at Tribeca Rooftop on Wednesday,
April 22nd. Designer Nicole Miller emceed
the special evening and actress Emily Mortimer served
as Mistress of Ceremonies. Mortimer presented
philanthropist Andrew Sabin with ARC’s New Species
Award, for his tireless work protecting animals around the
world. A rare Pygmy Chameleon from Tanzania was named in
his honor.
Guests including Paul Davis, Jean
Shafiroff, Ion Yadirgarolu, Cassandra Seidenfeld,
David Yamner and Julio Hernandez enjoyed live
entertainment by Yacouba Sissoko and singer Kavita
Shah, a delicious seated dinner and an international art
and photography auction. Twenty five celebrated artists
including Hunt Slonem, Alex Beard, Carlo Mari, Julie
Gross, Paige De Ponte, Sarah Markes, Dina Brodsky, Chris
Dei, Pamela Hanson, Peter Ray Mwasha, Eliza Milliken, Dalton
Portella, Susanna Jolly, Keenan Reilly, Ben Olson, Lola
Montes Schnabel and David Humphrey donated art to
support the ARC's initiatives.
For over 20 years, The African Rainforest
Conservancy has worked alongside its field partner the Tanzania
Forest Conservation Group (TFCG) to support a
network of 140 villages in eight mountain and coastal
regions throughout Tanzania that are protecting 3,000 square
kilometers of forest – an area 1,000 times the size of New
