City Harvest supporters raised nearly $1.5 million at the 21st annual Bid
Against Hunger, the most the
event has ever raised, and enough to rescue more than 5.7
million pounds of food for hungry New Yorkers. Over 90 of
the city’s top chefs, restaurants, and mixologists
participated in the tasting event on October 7 at Pier 36 in
New York City. The evening was hosted by Geoffrey Zakarian
and attracted more than 900 guests.
Highlights from the live auction included:

EVENING OF CIGARS AND SPIRITS WITH IRON CHEF GEOFFREY
ZAKARIAN AND FRIENDS: A
multi-course dinner for 10 guests in The Lambs Club’s
historic Stanford White Studio prepared by “Iron Chef”
Geoffrey Zakarian; “Chopped” judge and executive chef of
Butter Alex Guarnaschelli; Payard and FP Patisserie owner
François Payard; and executive chef of Gotham Bar and Grill
Alfred Portale. The dinner will be accompanied by spirit
pairings and a selection of premium Nat Sherman cigars. Winning
bid: 2 winners at $100,000. Totaling $200,000.

TASTE OF TRUFFLES: A
dinner for 10 in the winner’s home,
prepared by Michael White, chef and co-owner of Altamarea
Group, featuring one pound of Sabatino white truffles. Winning
bid: $50,000
· SWEET
ESCAPE WITH THE WORLD’S BEST PASTRY CHEFS: Tickets
for four to the once-in-a-lifetime Relais Dessert
Association tasting event in New York City featuring 100 of
the world’s best pastry chefs, followed by a private dinner
featuring a menu prepared by chefs Eric Ripert, Jean-Georges
Vongerichten, Laurent Tourondel, and Daniel Boulud. Winning
bid: $20,000.

VALLEY, CASUAL LUXURY AND WORLD CLASS WINES: A
four-night escape for two to Napa Valley featuring luxury
resort accommodations, first class airfare, a private tours
of the finest California vineyards led by Aldo Sohm, Wine
Director of Le Bernardin. Winning bid: $17,000.
