Daisy Jopling’s “Awakening” Concert Comes to
Alice Tully Hall
The Classical/Rock
Violinist, Selected Students
and Mentoring
Professionals Of The Global Music Academy Orchestra
Set To Perform At
Lincoln Center on August 27
New York, NY
This August 27, the celebrated violinist Daisy Jopling will
stage a connective, educational and entertaining performance
at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, at once accomplishing
all of her professional goals. First, she will take the
stage with a group of extraordinarily talented musicians to
play compositions that embody traditional orchestral
music aesthetics as well as a wide array of contemporary
musical styles from playful gypsy sounds and introspective
jazz moods to celebratory gospel grooves and
well-established rock songs. She will also be giving a group
of talented young musicians a chance to sit in (after a
number of rehearsals) and be mentored by those
professionals. Lastly, and perhaps as importantly, she will
be raising awareness among the young and old in the audience
of the beauty of her music, of this kind of ensemble and of
this world-renowned concert hall.
Conducted and orchestrated by Dean Fransen
and with special performances by Broadway vocal sensations
Justin Sargent, Joni Blondell, Nina Blue and Yahli Hilah,
the Awakening program is composed by Jopling, Michael
Feigenbaum and Brian Taylor, and has been hailed as
“brilliantly entertaining” by broadwayworld.com and “a
glorious swirl of colors full of passion and life” by
skopemag.com. Worleygig.com called it “uplifting and
inspirational” and a “musical odyssey (that) takes the
listener on a conceptual, boundary-busting journey.” Through
her powerful violin and genuinely sparkling personality,
Jopling presents each piece as a touchstone along the path
of personal discovery and universal transformation to which
people of all ages and cultures can relate.
The professional mentors in the Global Music
Academy Orchestra are rehearsing with, and will perform
alongside, student musicians of the highest calibre from
Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Long Island,
Westchester and Putnam Counties. The concert also includes
performances by the Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir, members
of the Hendrick Hudson High School Treble Makers and the
Mahopac High School Chorus.
The mentors will
give the students insights into the professional music
world. They’ll also provide opportunities to enhance various
aspects of their playing, expanding their performance
abilities in new musical styles while offering life-changing
friendships with the power to influence careers. For
