The Algemeiner newspaper hosted its
11th Annual J100 Gala at Gotham Hall,
celebrating individuals whose work has
significantly influenced Jewish life and
global affairs.
“In today’s polarized world, where the
media often fails to provide clarity,
The Algemeiner stands as a beacon of
truth.” said David M. Cohen, The
Algemeiner’s newly appointed CEO, “Our
mission is to ensure that the voices of
integrity prevail over falsehoods.”
Each year, The Algemeiner releases its
J100 list, honoring 100 individuals who
have made a significant impact on Jewish
life and global affairs. The list
highlights leaders, creators, and
changemakers across diverse fields,
celebrating their contributions to
Jewish culture, education, advocacy, and
community, including Jerry Seinfeld,
Michael Bloomberg, Megyn Kelly, Tiffany
Haddish, and Radiohead founders Thom
Yorke and Jonny Greenwood.
“15 months have now passed since the Jewish
state went to war. But there is another
front - the great battle for truth,”
said Dovid Efune, Honorary Chairman of
The Algemeiner and Publisher of The New
York Sun, “The Algemeiner’s journalists
stand on the front lines of that war and
we owe them our thanks, our support and
our love.”
This year’s honorees from the J100 included
journalist Douglas Murray for his
unwavering support of Israel, reporting
from the frontlines, reggae star
Matisyahu for promoting Jewish culture
through music, and philanthropists David
and Debra Magerman for their
contributions to Jewish education. Andy
Adler, award-winning journalist and CBS
broadcaster, served as the evening’s
Master of Ceremonies.
Said Matisyahu “The events of October 7th
reignited my commitment to stand for
resilience and unity, and urged me to
develop as a father, husband, and
artist.” David and Debra Magerman were
recognized for their philanthropy and
unwavering support for Israel. Said
David “This year has reminded us all of
the strength of unity and the
responsibility to support those who
fight for truth and justice.”
Douglas Murray, honored as a “Warrior of
Truth,” delivered a powerful message
about moral clarity. “We will not
apologize for loving life and fighting
for it,” Murray declared. “I am deeply
honored to receive this award, but the
real warriors are very clear—the young
men and women of Israel bravely fighting
on the front lines.”
Guests included Lady Anya and Sir Clive
Gillinson, Damis Holdings, Algemeiner
publisher Simon Jacobson, Betsy
McCaughey and her daughter Caroline
McCaughey, Rabbi Doron Perez, Ingeborg
and Ira Reinert, Lindy Snider, David and
Mona Sterling.
