Wednesday,
February 22nd, was a truly magical evening. The
award-winning architect Daniel Libeskind told the true
exciting story of giving life to the Freedom Tower in the
beautiful setting of Henry Buhl's home and extraordinary art
collection.
CITYarts thanked their supporters and welcomed new friends
at this event. Daniel Libeskind gave an inspiring talk on
how the competition for the new World Trade Center site
evolved. Guests discovered that on top of being an extremely
innovative architect with a professional background in
music, Daniel is also a very engaging story-teller. He
captivated the audience, who were all eager to listen and
learn more during the hour long talk. Everyone agreed it was
worth every minute!
Another side was unveiled when his wife and partner, Nina,
joined him to recap details of an emotionally and
spiritually difficult time for the Libeskinds while they
competed for the Freedom Tower.
Daniel generously dedicated limited edition prints of the
Freedom Tower that were specially created for CITYarts
almost 10 years ago, when they honored him for Making a
Difference Through the Arts. The proceeds from the sales
during the evening went to support CITYarts' upcoming mural
project at P.S. 328 in East New York, and A.C.E., Mr. Buhl's
non-profit supporting the homeless of NYC.
