On March 8th
Gilbert Albert took part in the first annual “March on March
8” International Women’s Day led by top UN officials and
celebrity activists with a special message from Malala
Yousafzai read by Susan Sarandon. Gilbert Albert
representatives joined the women walking from the United
Nations to
Dag Hammarskjold Park.
March 14th a private reception for the
ambassadors and their wives to celebrate collaboration was
held at the recently opened Gilbert Albert boutique located
at 43 West 57th Street, New York City. A
percentage of proceeds from the event, which was hosted by
Ms. Muna Rihani Al-Nasser, Chair, UN Women for Peace, will
be donated to this initiative.
UN Women for Peace, founded in 2008, under the patronage of
H.E. Mrs. Ban Soon-taek, wife of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon,
aims at promoting and advancing the goals of charitable
organizations whose missions are to provide opportunities
for women through social, cultural, educational and women’s
empowerment programs within a global peace building process.
