art from the Americas for the Tate
May 4, 2016, New York—On Tuesday,
May 3, art world luminaries from South America to
London gathered at the IAC building in New York City
for the Tate Americas Foundation’s
fourth triennial Artists Dinner. Sponsored by Oscar

evening honored more than 40 artists from

the Tate’s permanent collection.

Barker and an after party with a DJ set by Rachel
Chandler, celebrated the opening of the
expanded and re-hung Tate Modern in June, and
resulted in a total of $1.5 million raised for the
Tate Americas Foundation. Funds raised from the
Artists Dinner will be used to procure North and
South American art for Tate, allowing the Foundation
to continue its strong legacy of expanding and

building for Tate Modern. Dinner guests were greeted
by a cocktail hour of fine Chilean wines from Viña
Morandé before sitting down to a dinner by Canard,
Inc, featuring a blanched vegetable velouté with
garden purées, eggplant caviar, and mustard cream
and an entrée of fennel pollen coated Arctic char,
followed by a variety of petite sweets, coffee, and
tea.

Sotheby’s Europe, featured items generously donated
by supporters of the Tate and raised over $100,000.
