JFS Annual Gala and
Auction Revels in Night of Hollywood
A glamorous journey to the classic elegance of Hollywood
brought together hundreds of prominent guests at the Ruth
Rales Jewish Family Service Annual Gala and Auction. On
December 13, 2012, starting at 6:30 pm, they walked the red
carpet through paparazzi into a night to remember at St.
Andrews Country Club in Boca Raton. From the spirited
cocktail reception and dinner to entertainment, dancing and
generous silent and live bidding on a dazzling array of
luxury items, they truly did their part to celebrate and
further the agency’s important work. Rabbi Dan Levin
summoned the Chanukah spirit with a menorah lighting.
Carefully planned by Co-chairs Lisa Goodman, Roxane Lipton
and Vicki J. Weinstein, this major annual JFS fundraiser
raised $300,000 for food, financial assistance, senior
services and mental health care that JFS makes accessible to
so many families and individuals throughout South Palm Beach
County. A rousing cash call raised $56,000 for the Jacobson
Family Food Pantry at JFS alone, with all gifts over $900
generously matched by Ron Gallatin. Among the auction
highlights, Shirley Weisman and her daughter Marcia Langley
will be headed to Custo Barcelona Fashion Show with a
package that takes fabulous advantage of all that New York
City has to offer. Gerry Greenspoon won a golf package with
Morgan Pressel, who upped the original 9 holes to 18 during
the bidding.
The 2012 JFS awardees came forward with moving video
introductions. Longtime JFS leaders, donors and hands-on
volunteers Isabel and Arnie Friedman received the annual
Ruth and Norman Rales Humanitarian of the Year Award, and
premiere JFS sponsor Greenspoon Marder was given the
inaugural Corporate Leadership Award. Morgan Pressel
accepted a certificate honoring her years of generosity to
the annual gala.
